Beaufort County School Bond Referendum (2023)

Passed on November 7, 2023. Over 72% of voting Yes

The South Carolina Community Alliance worked in close coordination with the Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors and the Beaufort Jasper County Association of Realtors on this critical campaign. The bond will allow for the rebuilding of Hilton Head Island High School with state-of-the-art learning spaces and provide stronger security measures across all of the county’s schools. Other projects include a new middle school on Lady’s Island, as well as a new PreK-5 elementary school and early childhood center in Bluffton. The projects funded by the bond will be overseen by a Citizen Led Oversight Committee.

A spokesperson for Beaufort County County School District (BCSD), said before the election that this would be the largest bond referendum BCSD has ever passed, topping the $345 million bond referendum passed by the county’s voters in 2019.
